Frequently Asked Question
1. How is arrow straightness measured?Item #1
Zone arrow shafts are measured using a precision rotating laser-scan system that checks straightness along the entire shaft. This hands-free process removes human error and ensures the most accurate straightness readings possible.
2. What is the straightness tolerance of Zone arrows?
Zone arrows specify exact straightness for each series—no “Premier” or “Standard” categories:
Podium Series: ±0.001″
Carbon X1: ±0.001″
Carbon X3: ±0.003″
Straightness is always listed clearly for each model to avoid confusion and help archers choose confidently.
3. What are half-spine options and how do they work?
Half-spine sizes (650, 550, 450) allow finer tuning between standard spine categories. Podium Series A/C shafts react slightly weaker—typically 20–30 spine points—compared with standard spine charts.
Tuning tip:
If your setup sits near the lower end of a spine range, choose the next stiffer half-spine.
Example:
A recurve bow with 39 lbs draw weight and 28″ arrow length normally recommends 600 spine. For Podium A/C shafts, 550 spine will group more consistently.
4. Can I use components from other brands?
We recommend using Zone components exclusively, as they are designed for precise fit and long-term durability. Third-party components may fit poorly, reduce shaft life, or cause performance issues. Using them also voids warranty and replacement options.
5. How do I know if my arrow shaft is damaged?
Inspect your arrows regularly:
Check both ends for cracks, dents, or deformation
Look for splinters or carbon separation on the surface
Hold the arrow by both ends and gently flex it
If you hear crackling or feel any irregular bending — discard it immediately
Never shoot a damaged carbon or A/C shaft.
6. What is “360° Consistent Flex”?
Traditional carbon arrows have a “stiff axis” — a dominant spine line. Zone’s advanced manufacturing removes this imbalance, creating uniform stiffness around the entire shaft.
This means:
No spine indexing required
Smoother tuning
More consistent grouping
Better downrange accuracy
7. What is a collar and when should I use one?
A collar is a protective sleeve placed on the rear of the shaft to prevent splitting from impacts.
Important: Once a collar is installed, you must use pin + pin nock.
Out nocks are not compatible with collars.
8. Are there restrictions on cutting Podium A/C shafts?
Yes. Podium A/C shafts must be cut only from the point end.
Cutting from the nock end alters spine consistency and will affect performance.
9. How should I install points with hot-melt glue?
Use a small low-temperature flame (alcohol lamp)
Warm the point gently—just enough to melt the glue
Apply a thin glue layer, insert the point, and rotate slightly
Allow to cool naturally (air or damp cloth)
⚠️ Avoid:
Overheating the point (may damage the carbon/epoxy bond)
Using a heat gun
Quenching in water while inside the shaft (risk of bending)
10. How do I remove a point from the shaft?
Warm the point only with a low-temperature flame until the glue softens
Twist and pull gently using pliers
Let the shaft cool naturally before reuse
⚠️ Do not:
Apply high heat
Heat the carbon shaft itself
Force the point out before the glue softens
11. Why is my order processed by a local distributor instead of directly by Zone Archery?
To save you shipping costs, currency fees, import duties, and long delivery times, some orders are fulfilled through authorised regional distributors.
This approach allows us to:
Ship from the closest warehouse
Use local currency (reducing exchange fees)
Speed up customs processing
Offer region-specific promotions
Regardless of fulfilment location, every order includes full Zone Archery quality, warranty, and after-sales support.
